Anirban Chakraborty

My professional career in law spans over eighteen years, and I have experience of working in diverse settings. I started as an advocate in a solicitor firm at Calcutta and switched to academia in 2005. My career in teaching started at WBNUJS Kolkata where I served for twelve years, after which I shifted to MNLU Nagpur in 2017. I joined NALSAR Hyderabad in January 2021. In between, I have worked with UNDP as a Project Manager in the “Access to Justice for Marginalized Project” and as a Consultant to the Department of Justice, Government of India, on deputation. I was awarded the Fulbright Fellowship in 2009. My research interests include Legal Clinics, Dispute Resolution Techniques, and Judicial Reforms. I also love to travel and listen to western classical music in my leisure time.

  • Principal Investigator of the NUJS Consumer Law Project, sponsored by the Department Of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, having received a grant of over Rs. 6.5 Lakhs.
  • Visiting Expert on Clinical Legal Education to Faculty of Law and Political Science, National University of Lao for the period between March-May 2012. Amount mobilized from Luxembourg Agency for Development Cooperation was Rs. 4.5 Lakh,
  • Consultancy and policy advice to UNDP on facilitating dialogue between Government and Judiciary to Strengthen Judicial Officers capacities to effectively address the access barriers and “Improving Justice Delivery” for marginalized citizens.
