Workshop at NALSAR for Reserve Bank of India’s Law Officers

NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad organised a 3 day Workshop for the Law Officers of Reserve Bank of India’s Legal Department from 27 – 29 March 2009 at the ‘JUSTICE CITY’ Campus, Shameerpet, Hyderabad. The workshop was titled Legal & Regulatory Framework in the Banking Sector: Emerging Challenges in the Era of Globalisation and 32 senior law officers from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) attended the said workshop which covered various emerging legal issues pertaining to E-commerce, E-banking, Money-laundering, Securitization, Asset Reconstruction, Amalgamations, Money Market Instruments, IPRs, Alternate Dispute Resolution, Derivatives etc.
The Workshop was inaugurated on 27th March 2009 by Smt. Shyamala Gopinath, Deputy Governor of RBI and Prof. Veer Singh, Vice Chancellor-NALSAR, presided over the function. The other speakers during the inaugural session included Dr. N. Krishna Mohan, RBI’s Regional Director for A.P., Sri K.D. Zacharias, Legal Advisor-in- Charge, RBI, Sri G.S. Hegde, Legal Advisor-RBI and Dr. V.K. Unni, Asst. Professor-NALSAR. The technical sessions which were held at the Convention Centre at NALSAR were conducted by various eminent resource persons representing the banking industry and capital markets.
The Workshop’s valedictory session was held on 29th March 2009 where Sri. Vepa Kamesam (Managing Director, Institute of Insurance & Risk Management, Hyderabad) delivered the valedictory address. The function was also attended by NALSAR’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Veer Singh and Prof. K.V.S. Sarma (Registrar, NALSAR). The entire workshop was co-ordinated by Dr. V.K. Unni, Asst. Professor- NALSAR.
