This International seminar was a joint project between NALSAR, Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) and the WIPO Worldwide Academy, Geneva. The MIPLC delegation was headed by Prof. Joseph Straus and comprised of a group of ten doctorate students and scientific employees of the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law. Each of the panel discussions was relevant to India in the global context. The discussions covered the following topics: The impact of IP on development, IP and agriculture, pharmaceutical issues, relevance of IP to software, copyright and entertainment industry, IP as subject matter of business transactions, and the interface between IP and antitrust law. The audience, comprised of academics and practitioners from all over India, actively participated in the discussion. In the presence of the Hon'ble Justice G.S. Singhvi, Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh and Chancellor-NALSAR, Prof. Ranbir Singh, Vice Chancellor-NALSAR and Prof. Joseph Straus, Chairman of the MIPLC Managing Board, concluded the conference by signing a memorandum of understanding regarding further scientific cooperation. This newly established relationship will soon generate a number of exciting cooperative projects between the participating institutions. |
